Core Outdoor Team Day at Burke Lake Park!

Outdoor Living Beyond the Backyard.

At Core Outdoor Living, we spend most of our days helping Northern Virginia homeowners create spaces that make it easier to get outside. Decks for morning coffee. Screened porches for family dinners. Patios built for a fire pit and a few extra chairs.

But outdoor living doesn’t have to stop at your property line.

Recently, the Core Outdoor Living team traded our job sites and desks for a team picnic at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax County. We ate lunch, played games, caught up with the people we don’t always get to see during the workday and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon outside.

And really, it was a pretty good reminder of why we do what we do.

Taking Advantage of Northern Virginia’s Parks

One of the best parts about living and working in Northern Virginia is the incredible park system right in our backyard.

Burke Lake Park, located in Fairfax Station near Burke, spans 888 acres and offers everything from picnic areas and playgrounds to boating, fishing, camping, mini golf and disc golf. There’s also a roughly 4.7-mile trail around the lake for walking, running and biking.

For a company that talks about outdoor living all day, it’s hard not to appreciate a place designed around many of the same ideas we think about when designing a backyard: places to gather, places to eat, a little shade, room to play and making the outdoors more accessible for everyone.

Burke Lake also offers reservable picnic shelters and areas for larger gatherings, making spaces like these a great option for company picnics, family get-togethers and celebrations.

Outdoor Living Looks Different for Everyone

We build decks, screened porches, patios and outdoor living spaces throughout Northern Virginia, but the goal behind those projects is rarely just to add square footage.

It’s burgers around the table. Kids running through the backyard. Watching football outside in October. Having friends over without worrying about where everyone is going to sit.

Or, in our case at Burke Lake Park, sandwiches, football, giant Jenga and getting almost the entire Core crew in one photo.

Those are the moments that make an outdoor space worth having.
